Custom, customized, or personalized?

1. Custom: a new piece from your references

Search this when the figure does not exist yet. Start with custom figurines for a character, person, or idea. Start with custom sculpture when the brief is an original sculpture rather than a character figure. • The character, version, or scene was never manufactured at the scale you want.
• You need a new sculpt, not a new coat of paint.
• Pose, base, and display height are part of the brief.

2. Customized: change a figure you already own

Search this when the object is already in your hands. The phrases are customized figure, customized figurine, figure customization, custom repaint, and customized anime figure. The sculpt stays. The finish changes, or an unpainted print is cleaned and painted.

A painted collectible goes to figure repainting. An unpainted resin or filament print goes to 3D print finishing. The Mihawk repaint is a customized finish on an existing figure. If the sculpt, scale, or structure is the problem, paint will not fix it. Read repaint or recommission before the piece travels. The proposal confirms the schedule after the photos are assessed.

3. Personalized: made for one subject

Search this when the subject is a specific person, pet, or original character. The phrases are personalized figure, personalized figurine, personalized sculpture, personalized anime figure, and the British spellings personalised figure and customised figure. The work is still a one-of-one commission from your photographs and notes. It is not a stock product with a name on the base, and it is not a same-week print from a single selfie.

A person or original character starts at custom figurines. A pet starts at pet memorial sculpture, which is built from photographs of that animal. Send several angles. Likeness limits are discussed before a deposit, especially when the photo set is small.

• The piece has to be recognizable as one real subject.
• You can share photographs, markings, posture, and the details that cannot be lost.
• You want one piece, not a set of identical gifts.

4. Phrases this studio does not take

Award trophies, medals, ceremony awards, and bulk promotional objects are outside the work. So is a copy of another manufacturer's sculpt. A new custom figure can follow your chosen version, pose, and scale. It is not a recast of a commercial statue. Rights for a one-off personal piece are confirmed in the proposal.
