Who people commission

A likeness carries a person, a memory or a story. These are the pieces this service is built for.

Yourself

A statue of you

A bust or full figure in your own likeness, in everyday clothes, a uniform, a costume or a pose that means something.

Couples and family

Two people, one piece

A couple, a parent and child, or siblings in a single composition, for an anniversary, wedding or milestone.

Memorial and tribute

Someone you want to remember

A respectful portrait of a person who has passed, or a tribute to an artist or figure who shaped your life.

Person as character

A real face in another world

A person reimagined as an anime, game or comic character, like the Alt.Earth mashups. For a stylized or chibi version, see custom figurines from photos.

The photographs that make a likeness

Likeness lives in small proportions. Good references decide how close the finished face can get.

01

Front, sides and three-quarter

Clear photos of the face from the front, both profiles and a three-quarter angle. Natural light and a neutral expression help most.

02

One period of their life

Photos from the same age and hairstyle keep the face consistent. Mixing decades blurs the likeness.

03

Body, clothing and pose

For a full figure, add a full-length photo and references for the clothing, accessories and pose you want.

04

What matters to you

A smile, a habit, a way of standing. Tell Charles which details make the person recognizable to you.

How a portrait commission works

The face is approved with you before production, and you see progress throughout.

01

Send the photos and the idea

Who it is, bust or full figure, the pose or moment, and your preferred size. Charles replies with what likeness the references can support.

02

Agree the proposal

Format, dimensions, finish (full color or monochrome), likeness review rounds, approval checkpoints and shipping are set in a private proposal.

03

Sculpt and review the likeness

The face and figure are sculpted and refined with your feedback before fabrication.

04

Paint, crate and deliver

The piece is painted by hand, packed in protective crating and sent by insured express courier worldwide.

Common questions

Answers to what people ask before commissioning a portrait statue.

What photographs do you need?

Clear, well-lit photos of the face from the front, both sides and a three-quarter angle, plus a full-length photo for a full figure. Photos from the same period of the person's life keep the likeness consistent.

Can you work from old or limited photos?

Often, yes. Send what you have and Charles will say honestly what likeness is achievable before a proposal is made.

Will I approve the face before it is produced?

Yes. Likeness is reviewed with you during sculpting, and approval checkpoints are set in the proposal before fabrication and painting.

Can it be a surprise gift?

Yes, if you can gather suitable photographs without asking the person. See the guide to a one-of-one figure as a gift for planning the timing and handoff.

How long does it take?

A typical sculpture commission takes around two to three months. Size, likeness rounds and finish affect the schedule; the proposal confirms it.
